Cristiano Ronaldo is in the mix to be labelled the greatest footballer in history.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has broken records galore over the course of his glittering professional career.

Ronaldo is now recognised as the leading scorer in men's professional football after he surpassed the great Josef Bican last season.

At the time of writing, the 37-year-old superstar has scored 813 times for club and country. A whopping 117 of those goals have come with Portugal, the most by any male player on the international stage.

The numbers produced by Ronaldo are outrageous and the fact he scored 24 goals across all competitions in a poor Manchester United team during 2021/22 tells you everything you need to know.

Surely no one would dare question him about the fine art of goalscoring, right?

Well, one journalist did just that while Ronaldo was at Real Madrid - a club where he bagged 444 goals in 434 games.

In the build-up to a Champions League knockout tie versus AS Roma in February 2016, the striker was quizzed on the fact he hadn't scored an away goal since November of the previous year.

So a clearly agitated Ronaldo decided to remind everyone that since he'd moved to Real Madrid, no player had scored more away goals.

He then stormed out of the pre-match press conference, while his manager at the time Zinedine Zidane had a bit of a giggle.

It's probably good advice to avoid taking pop shots at a man who's made scoring at the very highest level look like a stroll in the park...

After putting the journalist in his place, Ronaldo went and brought an end to his away goal drought in sumptuous style at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Real Madrid legend opened the scoring on the night with an absolute rocket that put his team on the way to a priceless 2-0 victory.

What. A. Player.

Real Madrid went on to win the Champions League in 2015/16, with Ronaldo finishing the European campaign with 16 goals in total - which was one just short of his record-breaking tally in 2013/14.

Los Blancos beat city rivals Atletico in the final and it was Ronaldo who scored the match-winning penalty at San Siro.

The guy just always delivers...
