Arsenal are continuing to look at PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo this summer as well as other targets, according to Ryan Taylor of the Daily Express.

Mikel Arteta has overseen a productive transfer window so far but with weeks remaining until the deadline, more names could still arrive.

What is the latest transfer news from Arsenal?

Five new signings have been made by the Gunners so far this summer with over £100 million splashed on the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira.

Arsenal enjoyed a successful season in 2021-22 despite narrowly missing out on a place in the Champions League and will be aiming to go one better this time around.

But there is likely still a hunger to bolster certain positions, including in attack.

Arsenal were among the sides battling for the signature of Leeds United ace Raphinha earlier this summer, with the Brazilian eventually making the move to Barcelona.

But it showed that Edu and Arteta remain eager to bolster their attacking options if possible.

Another prominent name linked with a move to north London is PSV ace Gakpo. Fabrizio Romano has previously stated that it would cost Arsenal between £33.5 million and £38 million to tempt the Dutch giants into a sale.

What has Taylor said about a move for Gakpo?

Taylor understands the 23-year-old remains on Arsenal’s radar but that there is yet to be a firm approach made for his services either.

The Express reporter believes that a number of different targets are on their wishlist alongside Gakpo.

Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: “It's difficult because not much has really changed in the past few weeks. I know fans are itching to hear names, but there isn't really any out there that you can categorically say: ‘he is a target for Arsenal.’ I think it's a case of looking at several options, Gakpo being one.”

Would Gakpo be a good signing for Arsenal?

Arteta has shown in his signings since he became manager that he favours acquisitions that will improve under his leadership and Gakpo fits that bill at 23.

He also boasts an impressive record in front of goal, bagging 43 times in 136 games for PSV, also laying on 35 assists.

Last season saw him provide 36 goal contributions in all competitions in a campaign that saw him play all across the front line, a versatility that will only endear himself further to Arteta. It was a campaign described as ‘sensational’ by Dutch football expert Michael Bell as well.
