Sierra Leone forward Mohamed Buya Turay might just have one of the most understanding partners on the face of the planet.

The 27-year-old recently joined Malmo from Chinese Super League outfit Henan Songshan Longmen. However, his move to Sweden presented him with a pretty major dilemma in his personal life.

Understandably, Malmo wanted their new signing to report for pre-season training as soon as possible, handing him a start date of July 21 - the exact same day as he was due to get married.

We'd have paid good money to be a fly on the wall when he told his bride that, instead of attending their wedding ceremony, he was actually going to be joining up with his new teammates to prepare for Malmo's European qualifiers.

If that wasn't crazy enough, the wedding still took place!

"We got married on July 21 in Sierra Leone. But I was not there because Malmo asked me to arrive earlier," Turay confirmed to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet, per the Daily Mail.

In order to ensure that the ceremony went ahead in his absence, Turay asked his brother to take his place on the big day.

The six-cap Sierra Leone international even posed for pictures with his bride in their wedding outfits before he jetted off to Scandinavia.

Turay later posted the staged shots of himself and his fiance Suad Baydoun to his Twitter account.

"We took the picture beforehand, so it looks like I was there, but I was not. My brother got to represent me at the actual wedding," he later clarified.

Turay's wife hasn't seen him since the ceremony, either.

"But I will try to get her to Sweden and Malmö now so she can be close to me. She will live here with me."

After missing out on a conventional wedding, Turay's new spouse will have to wait until the end of the new Allsvenskan season for a honeymoon, too.

"First, we [Malmo] are going to win the league, and then I will go on a honeymoon," Turay confirmed.

At least the frontman saw some playing time having ditched his nuptials, making his Malmo debut in Thursday's 3-0 victory over Diddeleng in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

While his focus right now is clearly on football, there's no getting around the fact that Turay has some serious making up to do at some point.
