Referee Alan Haines went full Mike Dean in sending off Tom Flanagan in the League One clash between Shrewsbury Town and Accrington Stanley on Saturday afternoon.Dean, who retired from refereeing this summer, was a colourful character who oversaw games in a unique manner. One of his most memorable moments on the pitch came in 2018 in the Premier League clash between Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth. After Lewis Dunk's tough challenge on Callum Wilson, Dean quickly gave him a second yellow card and said 'off you pop' to the Brighton skipper.Haines bought back memories of Dean when sending off Flanagan. After a mini skirmish inside the box, Flanagan lost his temper and through an opponent to the ground. He then continued his complaints to the referee.

Haines gave Flanagan two yellow cards in quick succession and then appeared to tell him 'see ya later' as he pulled out the red card.

He appeared to tell the 30-year-old defender: "One yellow for the push, second yellow for dissent, and that one’s a red, see ya later."

Flanagan learned the hard way that Haines doesn't take any nonsense and isn't afraid to take footballers down a peg or two if they misbehave on the pitch.

The red card proved costly as the 10 men of Shrewsbury fell to a late defeat.
