Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara could still leave Ibrox this summer with a number of clubs interested in his services, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has overseen a busy summer in Glasgow ahead of his first full season in charge of the club and there is still time for further twists and turns before the deadline.

What has Rangers transfer window looked like?

Seven new faces have signed for the club this summer with just over £12 million spent so far, with the likes of Ben Davies, Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence all signing on the dotted line.

But there has also been plenty of upheaval at Ibrox. First-team stars Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo and Cedric Itten have all moved on, signing for Ajax, Southampton and BSC Young Boys respectively.

Van Bronckhorst will be determined to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from arch-rivals Celtic this season and the transfer window could still play a key role in that battle.

One name they have managed to hold onto for the time being is central midfielder Glen Kamara.

Turkish giants Galatasaray were strongly linked with a move for the Finland international earlier this summer but as yet nothing has materialised.

After a pre-season victory over West Ham, van Bronckhorst emphasised again his desire to keep hold of Kamara, saying: “We have a squad who is very liked by many clubs in Europe. You see Glen today playing really well. I'm really happy with Glen and hopefully he will stay a Rangers player for many years."

However, a move away could still be on the cards before the summer is out for the £30k per-week star.

What has O’Rourke said on Kamara’s future?

The journalist believes that there could still be a late twist and that Kamara could still be on his way out of Rangers this summer.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I think there could still be a late twist. There's been quite a few clubs interested in Glen Kamara from the Premier League and from abroad as well. So you can never rule out a possible move. We’ve still got plenty of time left in this transfer window as well and, I think for Rangers’ sake, if it's an offer they can't turn down they would have to maybe let Kamara move on.”

How important is Kamara to Rangers?

Since signing from Dundee in January 2019, Kamara has gone on to make 160 appearances for the club, including appearances in 28 matches of their title-winning Scottish Premiership campaign in 2020-21.

He still has three years remaining on his contract at Ibrox too so Rangers will be in a strong bargaining position should any further approaches be made this summer.

Having already lost Bassey and Aribo, it will have only added extra value to Kamara as they look to secure more silverware this season.
