Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder nearly came to blows in a hotel lobby while surrounded by fans.

The incident is one of the most iconic moments in recent boxing history, with supporters fully part of the action.

Fury was set to face Francesco Pianeta as he made his comeback to the sport in 2018.

The match-up was in aid of what seemed to be an inevitable contest against Wilder for the WBC heavyweight world championship.

Wilder decided to fly out to Belfast a day before the fight to crash Fury’s weigh-in.

Separated by hoards of fans, most of whom were seen getting behind the popular Fury, the pair engaged in a screaming match, gesticulating and hurling insults at each other.

The incident gave both fighters the chance to get in and amongst an adoring boxing faithful.

The pair met again later that night, dining at the same Nando’s restaurant in the city centre. It didn’t take long for an initially pleasant greeting to turn sour as Fury approached Wilder.

As the pair shook hands, the American brought up a comment Fury had recently made where he called him a ‘racist c***’.

The quote came during an interview when Fury was responding to Wilder referring to Eddie Hearn as ‘just another white man milking a black man.’

Prior to the altercation, Wilder was heard asking Fury: “What’s the comment you said about me? The one where you called me a racist c***?”

The Mancunian came back by saying: “Yeah, I did yeah.” The Bronze Bomber leapt up and the fight began.

Although not quite pizza-gate, rumours circulated that Fury had flung chicken in Wilder’s direction.

This led to Wilder’s camp pursuing his rival out of Nando’s, much to onlookers’ delight, with many capturing the moment in viral clips.
