Arsenal could do a deal for Leicester City ace Youri Tielemans this summer as they continue to target a new midfielder and a new winger this summer, according to Ryan Taylor of The Daily Express.

Mikel Arteta has overseen a busy summer transfer window at the Emirates this summer but he could still strengthen further ahead of the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest on Youri Tielemans?

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Belgium for a while now with a report from the Telegraph detailing their interest back in May.

The same report also revealed that Leicester could be willing to accept as little as £25 million for Tielemans with the 25-year-old entering the final year of his deal at the King Power Stadium.

However, there has seemingly been very little progress with the deal since. The Gunners remain interested in the player but no bid has been tabled as yet.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move this summer while Real Madrid are plotting to sign him on a free transfer next summer, according to reports in Spain.

The £120,000 per-week star, who has previously been described as “world class,” is currently in limbo as the new Premier League season gets underway but a move to Arsenal remains on the cards.

What has Taylor said on the potential move?

Taylor understands that Arsenal remain interested in signing a new winger and a new central midfielder this summer.

He also says that if the Gunners made their move, and tabled an offer for the services of Tielemans, a deal could be struck.

Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: “If they decided they wanted to do that deal, and if they were willing to table the money, it could be done. But they’re the two priorities. I think anything outside of that may depend on outgoings.”

Do Arsenal need Tielemans this summer?

Despite Fabio Vieira arriving from Porto this summer, it is clear that the Gunners’ midfield still needs bolstering.

Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey were Arteta’s favoured pairing last season but there was little in the way of depth beyond the duo.

Mohamed Elneny may have signed a new deal but adding some extra quality and someone who can progress play, such as Tielemans, would be a smart move.

With European football back on the bill at the Emirates this season, having as many options as possible at his disposal will also likely be a priority for Arteta.
