Chelsea: Raheem Sterling debut compilation vs Everton has excited fans

Raheem Sterling for Chelsea

Raheem Sterling made his official Chelsea debut as Thomas Tuchel’s side began the season with a win against Everton.

A penalty converted by Jorginho at the end of first half injury time was the difference as Chelsea secured an all-important 1-0 victory and clean sheet to kick off the 2022/23 campaign.

Fans would’ve perhaps expected a more dominant performance from the Blues considering the gulf in quality between the two squads on paper, but Everton made it a hard game for Chelsea who had to dig in deep for the win.

In a game that wasn’t without negatives for Tuchel’s side, what of course matters is starting the season off correctly and coming away from a difficult ground to play at with a win.

In fact, Chelsea’s opening weekend victory was the first time they’ve won at Goodison Park since 2017. So considering the summer they’ve had and the fact they’re entering a new era of ownership, the win was very much a welcome one.

Among the positives was two impressive debut performances from Kalidou Koulibaly and Sterling, who managed to wow Chelsea fans despite not registering a goal or an assist.

Sterling signed from Manchester City in a deal worth £47.5 million this summer and has immediately been tipped to revitalise Chelsea’s forward line, following Romelu Lukaku’s loan return to Inter Milan.

The England international won four Premier League titles during his time at City and has wasted no time in becoming key to Tuchel’s plans, playing the entire contest against the Toffees on Saturday.

A compilation has emerged following his official debut for the club, and it’s clear to see why fans are happy with what they’ve seen already from Sterling. Be sure to check it out below.

Not bad, Raheem. Not bad at all.

Sure, Sterling didn’t set the world alight with a glut of goals. But what is already clear is just how good he can be, and how he can become Chelsea’s lead creator over the course of the season.

Let’s not forget that this is game one of a very, very long season and hopefully a long and successful tenure at Stamford Bridge for the 27-year-old. It’s already abundantly clear to see how much he can improve Chelsea in time with his desire to beat players, low centre of gravity and unrivalled technical ability.

Fans have already been impressed by what Sterling has brought to the table. Let’s see what they had to say.

When up to full speed, Sterling could well be an absolute menace for Chelsea.

Considering the embarrassment of riches they have in attack, it is now vital that Tuchel does everything he can to get Sterling clicking with his other forwards as quickly as possible.

It’s clear to see that there is a genuinely world class player itching to explode in there; Tuchel now needs to find a way to extract that consistently.
