Tottenham could sign two more players before transfer deadline at Hotspur Way

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte getting angry

Tottenham Hotspur could sign ‘a couple’ more players before the end of the summer transfer window, according to Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic.

Antonio Conte has stamped his authority on the squad Hotspur Way this summer but Spurs could still add new faces before the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest Tottenham transfer news?

Six new signings have arrived at the club already this summer with just over £90 million being spent on the likes of Richarlison, Djed Spence and Yves Bissouma as well as free deals for Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.

No new signings were included in Conte’s starting line-up for the 4-1 victory over Southampton on the opening day of the season, shining a light on the strength in depth now available to the Italian.

Despite boasting a healthy squad, he is still looking to add to his options. Conte reportedly wants to add a creative midfielder to his side while a left-sided centre-back is also on the wish list.

What has Eccleshare on the search for recruits?

The Athletic reporter believes that there may still be a late push for new signings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He believes it was always likely that there would be an early push to land priority targets and a later look to sweep up any potential bargains.

Eccleshare told GIVEMESPORT: “I always said this window, I thought there would be a number of ones they’d do early and really want to do early, but there might be one or two that they accepted aren’t absolute necessities before the opening day and those ones they can leave a little bit longer and maybe wait and be in a slightly stronger position because clubs might realise they need to make a sale.

“So, I do wonder if there might be a couple where they are able to take a little bit of a step back before doing something a bit later.”

Who could sign before deadline day?

It appears that a left-back could be the next position to be strengthened with Sky Sports reporting that Udinese’s Destiny Udogie is a target, with a £21 million fee currently being demanded.

Elsewhere, Leicester City’s James Maddison and Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo have been looked at as potential options to add some creativity to the side.

Harry Kane’s habit of dropping deep to act as the side’s primary creator has been a subject of hot debate so adding someone to take on that responsibility would make sense.
