New York Giants: Daniel Jones produces embarrassing throw that should alarm fans

Daniel Jones of the Giants makes terrible throw

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has embarrassed himself in front of the fans during an open practice ahead of the 2022 NFL season.

Daniel Jones has had what can best be described as a reasonable career in the NFL so far during his first three seasons. He has completed 62.8% of his passes, thrown for 8,398 yards which has yielded 45 touchdowns to just 29 interceptions.

The numbers aren’t necessarily bad by any stretch, but for a first-round pick, and someone that the New York Giants traded up in the draft to get, you would hope that he would pop more than that, but pop isn’t exactly something that you can associate with either Jones or the Giants in recent seasons.

Since taking over as a starter, the Giants have gone 12-25 under Jones and are currently on their second head coach in the form of Joe Judge after they got rid of Pat Shurmer at the end of his rookie season, and now the Giants are entering what could be a critical stage of their rebuilding process.

Making big splashes in 2022

The 2022 NFL Draft could end up being seen as a critical part of the next few seasons for the Giants, they addressed critical needs on the offensive and defensive line as they picked up Evan Neal and Kayvon Thibodeaux in the first round in an effort to hopefully protect Jones and take pressure off the offense by getting better on defense.

How many teams are there in the NFL?

However none of that is going to make a lick of difference until the quarterback play is sorted out, but judging by a video that’s emerging from over the weekend, it isn’t looking too good when it comes to Jones and what he brings to the table.

Way off target

During an open training session at MetLife Stadium, the Giants were going through some plays in front of their fans as a way to greet them back ahead of the 2022 season, and as is the way with things in the modern world, there was someone filming what was going on.

Which meant that they were on hand to see Jones look to throw a pass to his right, only to throw it well away from his intended target (who through the blurry footage we think is Kenny Golladay):

Now obviously this is just one play so it shouldn’t be seen as a total referendum on his talents, but it is still somewhat alarming to see that he has it in his locker at this stage of his career, especially when you consider he’s into the final year of his contract and needs to be at his best if he’s going to be a starter somewhere next season.
