Everton are set to ‘make moves’ in the transfer market this week as the Toffees target a new striker this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Frank Lampard has overseen his first window as Everton boss but there is still plenty to do at Goodison Park ahead of the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest transfer news?

Only three new players have arrived at the club this summer in the form of James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil and Ruben Vinagre.

But there has also been a mass exodus from Merseyside too. Jonjoe Kenny and Cenk Tosun have departed on free transfers and, most notably, star striker Richarlison has been sold to Tottenham for just over £50 million.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin set for another spell on the sidelines, a new striker will surely be a top priority in the remaining weeks.

Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi has been targeted by Lampard but Wolves are also reportedly eyeing a move for the Blues outcast this summer.

Everton are also set to battle Manchester United and Everton for Stuttgart frontman Sasa Kalajdzic, who is valued at £15 million by the German side.

What has Jones said on Everton’s summer plans?

Jones understands that the Toffees will be pushing ahead to land a new striker this week but continue to look at a range of targets throughout the squad as well.

The transfer insider told GIVEMESPORT: “I know that they are definitely exploring this at moment. I mean they're looking at loads of stuff at the moment to be honest with you.

“The squad has been so short of quality that’s needed to even survive in this division, let alone do anything. They played okay at the weekend but they still just lacked that cutting edge, so I think this week we'll see them make some moves in the market in terms of a striker.”

Who will they sign this summer?

A striker is an absolute necessity this summer and it sounds like they are finally going to push ahead to land a deal.

Kalajdzic has scored 24 goals in 58 games for Stuttgart since moving to the club and it is easy to see why he has caught the eye.

However, it is more likely Lampard will use his connections with Chelsea to push through a move for Batshuayi instead, with the Belgian boasting 77 Premier League games to his name and 15 goals.
