Which players have recorded the most Premier League assists since the turn of the millennia?

It’s an interesting topic to consider and one that’s certainly more difficult to predict than when we looked at the 10 highest scoring Premier League players of the 21st century.

It was Man Utd legend Wayne Rooney that topped that particular list, but which iconic figure will top the table this time around? Let’s assess some of the leading candidates.

Big contenders

When you think of brilliant creative players and frequent assisters that have blessed the Premier League, one individual probably jumps to mind – David Silva.

The Spaniard was something of a genius at Man City for large swathes of his English top-flight career but he can manage just fourth in our top 10.

Kevin De Bruyne is often viewed as the player that stepped up to the mantle after Silva’s departure and he also makes the top 10.

Meanwhile, the age-old Steven Gerrard/Frank Lampard/Paul Scholes debate gets new fuel for the fire with two of the three legends featuring.

And how will Arsenal icons Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas feature? Both were partial to turning provider for teammates, although one of them practically made a living off his creative capabilities.

So, Fabregas is the assist king after proving to be the ultimate creator for both Arsenal and Chelsea across his iconic spells at both clubs.

Silva also fares ridiculously well given he played just 309 matches, falling behind Rooney and Giggs purely because of longevity reasons.

Lampard pips Gerrard by a single assist, although played an extra 29 matches – whilst Scholes doesn’t make the top 10.

And the unholy tally of 588 games racked up by Milner ensures that he’s good enough for 7th place overall, although De Bruyne has now drawn level after his incredible assist for Erling Haaland last weekend.
