Conor McGregor’s rise to fame in combat sports has seen him become one of - if not the most - loved fighter in the world.

The 34-year-old’s entertaining fighting style, paired with his charming wit and humour, earned him a horde of loyal supporters.

Many, of course, come from his home country of Ireland, but McGregor’s fame has seen him become a global icon, with the former featherweight and lightweight UFC champion also boasting plenty of extremely loyal fans in the United States.

That became evident to McGregor back in 2016 during the lead up to UFC 196, where he was scheduled to face America’s Nate Diaz in a blockbuster main event.

In an attempt to build up excitement for the fight, McGregor granted extra access to his behind the scenes training camp, but while fans mostly expected sparring footage and clips of McGregor’s day-to-day life, it also boasted an incredible moment between the Irishman and one of his fans.

While cruising around Los Angeles in his Rolls-Royce, McGregor can’t help but laugh when he sees a cardboard cutout of himself alongside an Irish flag on a nearby balcony.

McGregor came to a stop and shouted back to the fan, who can be heard screaming: “Conor you’re the man,” from his home.

McGregor promised to pay the fan a visit the following day.

What followed was an incredibly wholesome moment between Notorious and an evidently loving fan. The fan not only erected a cutout of McGregor on his balcony, but also owned the fighter's sneakers, hats and shirts.

“I don’t even have them,” laughed McGregor, as he explored the fan’s collection of merchandise. The fan then revealed he already had an outfit picked out for the upcoming fight.

However, the fan will certainly have fonder memories of his heartwarming visit from McGregor than he will of the fight itself.

Nate Diaz won via a second-round submission to hand McGregor his first ever loss in the UFC. However, the Notorious returned five months later to gain his revenge.
