Sebastian Vettel is currently leading the way when it comes to fines paid this season in Formula 1, with the German ahead of Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez in the payout stakes.
The F1 campaign is at its annual summer break and the drivers and teams have downed tools, allowing themselves a breather from the chaos of the first part of the campaign and a chance to recharge before the start of the run-in.
Things get back underway at the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of the month but in the meantime Casumo have released a study taking a closer look at some of the penalties and fines that have been handed out by the FIA thus far in 2022.
At the top of the money tree is Sebastian Vettel, with the majority of his fine total coming from his 'behaviour during the Drivers’ meeting' at the Austrian Grand Prix, which cost him 25,000 Euros, whilst another 5,000 Euro fine was handed down for his scooter ride at the Australian Grand Prix during FP1:

Penalties and fines are part and parcel of Formula 1; with the drivers pushing to the very limit at high speed there will always be times where they err over that edge and get penalised for it.
The FIA has been hot on clamping down on things like track limits among other offences, and the drivers will be eager to try and avoid their glare as much as they can when the season resumes in Spa.
