Arsenal are continuing to look for wingers who can strengthen their attack this summer but will only complete a deal if the player is the right fit for the club, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Mikel Arteta has overseen a busy transfer window at the Emirates but the Gunners are still eager to add to their squad before the deadline passes.

What is the latest transfer news?

It became apparent that Arteta and Edu were looking to bolster their wings this summer when they entered the race to sign Raphinha from Leeds, only to be beaten to the Brazilian by Barcelona.

PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo has also been linked with a move to Arsenal throughout the summer but any negotiations are seemingly yet to progress.

The latest name to be linked with a move is Bayer Leverkusen ace Moussa Diaby. Football Insider report that owner Stan Kroenke has given the green light to launch a move for the 23-year-old, currently valued at £60 million by the Bundesliga side.

However, the same publication also states that it is an asking price the north Londoners will likely be unwilling to match.

What has Jones said on the winger pursuit?

Jones understands that Edu and those in charge at Arsenal still have a ‘genuine’ interest in signing a winger this summer.

But the transfer insider also states that the club will only go ahead with a deal if it is the right fit and would not disrupt what is already an impressive attack.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Arsenal are genuinely looking at options here, but it has to be the right fit. They can't get this one wrong because they've already got a good set of attackers and they've got to complement them rather than rock the boat.”

Will Arsenal sign a new winger this summer?

In an ideal world, I think Arteta and Edu would want to add that extra layer of depth to their front line before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

But we know that Arsenal will not move for players they do not feel would be right for the club. In January the Gunners did not add a single new face to their squad despite calls from fans for them to do so.

While some questions may remain over his management style, Arteta has earned the trust of supporters when it comes to the market.

Last summer saw them splash over £140 million on the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, all of whom improved the side significantly.
