Roger Federer: Tennis superstar keeping ‘pinky promise’ he made to young fan Zizou Ago

There aren’t many bigger names in the world of sport than Roger Federer.

The tennis superstar has been at the top of the game for decades and, while his career is slowly drifting towards retirement, it can never change just how much he has achieved.

Federer, who is a true gentleman, is loved all over the world thanks to his graceful technique and demeanour both on and off the court.

Over the course of his career, Federer hauled in a quite ridiculous tally of 20 Grand Slam titles and, while he may not be the market leader in that regard anymore, he will always be considered the GOAT by many a fan.

He’s been part of some of the greatest battles the sport has ever known and, whenever he took to the court with age-old rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, we were guaranteed fireworks.

They have both since overtaken Federer when it comes to Grand Slam titles but that hasn’t stopped fans from showering the Swiss maestro in love.

And he once again proved why the world is so fond of him after recently keeping a ‘pinky promise’ he made to a young fan back in 2017.

During a press conference, a young fan, who addressed him as ‘Mr Federer’, urged the darling of Wimbledon to keep playing for several more years so that they could play each other when he turns pro.

Federer, as is his way, smiled and made a pinky promise to the young man, one that he recently fulfilled in the most wholesome way.

Zizou Ago, who was completely oblivious to what was actually happening, was treated to quite the day as Federer laid out the red carpet treatment for the young fan in Switzerland.

Having revelled in the VIP treatment, Zizou is then taken down to a court where his long-time idol surprised him with a game.

Check out the brilliant moment in footage below:

Incredible – he just has to be the nicest man in sport, right?

While he hasn’t officially retired yet, the day isn’t far off and, when it does come, it will be a sad day.

Still, whether he is playing or not, it can never change the fact that Federer is one of the true role models and will be inspiring up-coming stars for years to come.
