Bo Nickal took just 62 seconds to submit Zachary Borrego in his second professional appearance.

However, he'll still need one more win to earn himself a UFC contract after signing a development deal with the promotion.

The 26-year-old came out the blocks immediately looking for the takedown before he took the back of his opponent. And an arm on his chin finished the job in double quick time.

Nickal remains undefeated after his impressive performance on Dana White's Contender Series on Tuesday night.

He will likely have another fight in a couple of months' time before the end of the year.

Borrego meanwhile entered the cage with a record of 3-0 on a three-fight winning streak.

He was last in action on June 26 when he claimed a points victory over fellow American Tommie Britton but was no match for Nickal, failing to stop what felt like the inevitable.

And despite being blown away by his performance, UFC president White revealed that he didn't offer Nickal a contract straightaway due to his lack of experience.

Instead he wants him to have one more fight before throwing him in at the deep end in the stacked middleweight division.

“He’s 1-0, 2-0 now, fought a kid that was 3-0, made it look really easy," White said at his post-fight press conference.

“Let’s get him one more fight and let’s test him. [If he] Gets past that with flying colours, we bring him in and we give him a fight in the UFC.

I think only one guy has come in at like 1-0 and did anything and I think it was Brock [Lesnar), and to be honest with you, I don’t remember. Brock was something like that. So, yeah, he’s a stud.

“I don’t know what else he could have done to look any better. He looked incredible. The only reason I didn’t sign him tonight is because he’s 2-0 now.

"We got eight more weeks of this. Why not have him fight here again, you know what I mean? It just makes sense.”
