35. 12. 15. 32. 19.
City were once simply ‘noisy neighbours’ but now they’re simply in a different league to United right now.
You have to go all the way back to the 2012/13 campaign for the last time United trumped their rivals. That was in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge.
Since then, City have dominated English football while Man Utd have been, well, a bit of a mess.
In the two Premier League clashes last season, City triumphed 2-0 at Old Trafford and 4-1 at the Etihad in two of the most one-sided Manchester derbies we’ve seen in recent years.
Can Erik ten Hag’s side get anywhere near Pep Guardiola’s men this season? It seems unlikely.
It’s no wonder fans of the Red Devils want to reminisce about happier times playing against their ‘noisy neighbours.’
That’s probably why a clip of Jose Mourinho’s United scoring a quite brilliant goal against Guardiola’s City is going viral.
It came during the 2017/18 season at the Etihad.
City required a win to clinch the title and they were 2-0 ahead after just 30 minutes. It looked set to be another miserable 90 minutes for Man Utd against their rivals.
However, in the second half, Mourinho’s side produced a quite incredible comeback.
Paul Pogba pulled one back eight minutes into the second half but it’s the equaliser – Pogba’s second goal – two minutes later that is going viral.
It starts with an Antonio Valencia throw in his own half. Forty seconds later, United have equalised after a sensational passing move where City couldn’t even get close to their opponents.
Ironically, it’s Alexis Sanchez’s delicate dink into the box that is converted by Pogba – players that are considered two of the biggest flops in the club’s history having cost a fortune in transfer fees and/or wages.

What a goal.
Could you imagine a United side these days producing a moment like that? No chance.
Following their opening day defeat to Brighton in the 2022/23 season, fans of Man Utd have been getting pretty emotional looking back at a side capable of passing the greatest side the Premier League has ever seen off the pitch.

Chris Smalling completed the comeback for the away side to well and truly ruin the title celebrations.
However, City went on to pick up 100 points that season – 19 points ahead of runners-up Man United.
