England star Lauren Hemp joked about her chances of winning a BAFTA after making an appearance on Hollyoaks.

The Manchester City winger appeared in a special scene which aired last night on E4.

Playing herself, Hemp left the villagers starstruck after she was a “guest coach” the local football team.

Despite only having two lines, the 22-year-old made a brilliant joke about winning a BAFTA for her performance.

She wrote on Twitter: “When are the BAFTAs? Asking for a friend”.

Hemp's cameo came after Hollyoaks recorded an additional scene the day after the Lionesses made history by winning Euro 2022.

The scene in question saw two characters watching a replay of Chloe Kelly’s winner in extra-time.

Hemp revealed it was this scene that led to her appearance in her favourite show.

“I love Hollyoaks and never miss it so when they posted the scene about us on their Instagram I then shared it on my story,” she said.

“Then my agent called and said that I had been invited to come and film a scene. I can’t tell you what I replied but I shouted it down the phone!

“It was like a dream. I had two dreams in life and they’ve both happened in the last few weeks. I’d love to come back again. I’d like to play a serial killer.”

It’s likely Hemp will be sticking to football for now, with the Women’s Super League season set to get underway on September 10th.

She is already back in training with Manchester City in preparation for her side’s Champions League qualifier against Tomiris-Turan next week.

Hemp scored one goal and set up another during England’s winning run at Euro 2022.

She also swung in the corner which eventually resulted in Kelly’s winner in the final, with the Lionesses defeating Germany 2-1 at Wembley to clinch European glory.

Hemp, the first four-time winner of the PFA Young Player Of The Year Award, is sure to have many more brilliant moments for England.
