Tottenham are making an "exciting signing" in Udinese star Destiny Udogie, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The young left-back is on the verge of becoming Antonio Conte's seventh summer addition and Bridge has praised Spurs for seemingly beating off competition for his services.

Despite already having three senior left-sided players in their squad, albeit with Sergio Reguilon likely to leave, Spurs are clearly planning for the future with the addition of 19-year-old Udogie.

According to the Daily Mail, Udogie, who's a long-term target for the north London side, is expected to fly to London on Monday and undergo a medical ahead of a proposed £21m move from Serie A.

But with Conte not short of options on the left, the teenager will spend the 2022-2023 campaign back on loan at Udinese after enjoying a breakout season with the Italian outfit last term.

With other clubs interested in the highly-rated Italian, Bridge has lauded the hierarchy at Spurs for getting the deal over the line.

What did Bridge say about Udogie?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "In terms of Udogie, I've only heard good things about him. He's very exciting, he wants to join an English club so it's great that Spurs have got this over the line because I'm sure that Brighton would have offered him a deal to come in straight away, Manchester City want to upgrade their left-backs, Juventus wanted him, so Spurs have got him ahead of all of these clubs, so well done to them."

How did Udogie perform last season?

Despite 2021-2022 being his first full campaign at senior level, Udogie was Udinese's fourth-best player according to WhoScored, with a notable rating of 6.80.

To put that into context, it was a similar rating to Ryan Sessegnon (6.68), Emerson Royal (6.87), Reguilon (6.95) and Matt Doherty (6.96), who were Tottenham's four wing-backs from last season.

Defensively, the teenager averaged 1.8 tackles, 1 clearance and 0.8 interceptions every time he took to the pitch, but it was perhaps his offensive work that caught the attention of Conte.

In his 35 Serie A appearances, Udogie scored five goals and added four assists, meaning he was directly involved in a goal more often than once every four top-flight outings.

In fact, Ivan Perisic, another of Spurs' summer recruits, was the only other wing-back or full-back in Serie A to register more goals and assists than Udogie in 2022, which bodes well for when he starts working under Conte.
