Arsenal are ‘looking for a bit more’ in the transfer window before it shuts on September 1, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Gunners have enjoyed a fairly productive summer, bringing in a handful of exciting acquisitions, but could still welcome further recruits in the days and weeks ahead.

What is the latest news involving Arsenal?

Mikel Arteta has managed to offload several fringe players such as Alexandre Lacazette, Lucas Torreira and Bernd Leno while replacing them with some astute acquisitions.

The likes of Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko have added significant strength in depth to Arsenal’s first-team squad, and some of their new signings helped them claim a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t seem as though Arteta is satisfied with the players currently available to him, and the Gunners’ lengthy pursuit of Youri Tielemans and failed attempt to sign Raphinha are evidence of that.

GiveMeSport Transfer Latest

It was revealed back in May that Arsenal were contemplating a £25 million move for Tielemans, who only has a year remaining on his contract with Leicester City.

Yet it has recently been reported that the capital club could wait to sign the Belgium international on a free transfer in 12 months’ time due to the Foxes’ demands.

What has Bridge said about Arsenal?

Bridge believes that Tielemans, like his teammate James Maddison, will either have to put pen to paper on fresh terms at Leicester or seek pastures new, although he’s unsure how much he would improve Arsenal.

He told GiveMeSport: “Well, again, like Maddison, he either signs a new contract, or he goes. But that one’s come back and forth quite a lot over the summer, so again it’s a bit of a wait and see.

“But how much does he improve Arsenal? I don't know, he’s sort of stagnated a little bit. But it's clear that Arsenal are looking for a bit more.”

Who else could Arsenal sign?

Football.London have claimed that Arsenal are eager to snap up PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo, although they could face stiff competition for his signature.

A recent report from ESPN has revealed that Manchester United are also contemplating a move for the 23-year-old, who is valued at around £35m by his current employers.

Gakpo registered 21 goals and 15 assists in 46 appearances for PSV last season, firing them to the Dutch Cup and has already racked up five goal contributions in his opening five games of the current campaign.

Beating United to the Netherlands international’s signature could prove to be a difficult task, although Arsenal are perhaps a more enticing proposition at this moment in time.
