British tennis star Emma Raducanu posted an adorable throwback after spending time in Toronto for the Canadian Open.

The world number 10 fell in the first round of the WTA 1000 event, losing 7-6, 6-2 to Camila Giorgi of Italy.

It was another blow to Raducanu’s preparations for her US Open title defence, with the Grand Slam set to get underway at Flushing Meadows on August 29th.

But the 19-year-old seemed in good spirits as she spent time in her city of birth.

She was born in Toronto in 2002 to a Romanian father and Chinese mother, with her family moving to England when she was two-years-old.

Raducanu recreated a photograph from her time living in the Canadian city, posting the pictures side by side on Instagram.

In the first photo, Raduancu is seen waving with the CN Tower in the background. In the second photo, a young Raducanu and her mother are seen in the same location, waving at the camera.

The post sparked comments from a number of tennis players, including US star Coco Gauff. The world number 11 wrote: “so cute 🥺”.

British tennis player Katie Swan also commented, writing: “omggg baby radders 🥺 too cute”.

Raducanu made history at the US Open last year as she became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam title since Virginia Wade in 1977.

She also became the first ever qualifier, male or female, to win a Grand Slam title.

But Raducanu has struggled to find her form since then, shouldering 13 defeats and 10 victories in 2022 so far.

In a bid to improve her performances before the US Open, Raducanu has linked up with Russian coach Dmitry Tursunov on a temporary basis.

He has previously coached Aryna Sabalenka and Anett Kontaveit on the WTA Tour, helping the latter to a career-high of world number five before their split in June.

But the move caused controversy, with Raducanu warned that the partnership could be used as a propaganda tool by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
