Manchester United can ‘definitely’ complete deals for both Ismaila Sarr and Cody Gakpo this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Erik ten Hag has endured a frustrating first window in charge at Old Trafford but the Red Devils are expected to be busy ahead of the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest on the United targets?

Only three new signings have been added to Ten Hag’s squad so far this summer with Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen all making the move to the North West.

But the same problems have persisted. Sunday afternoon saw United succumb to Brighton, losing 2-1 to the Seagulls in front of their own fans.

Adrien Rabiot is edging closer to swapping Juventus for the Red Devils this summer but another midfielder as well as attacking reinforcements seemingly remain on the agenda.

PSV Eindhoven winger Gakpo has now been targeted, as per The Telegraph, with the report stating that the Dutch giants will demand £35 million for the 23-year-old’s services.

Another name being considered at Old Trafford is Watford ace Sarr, with Football League World reporting that the Hornets are asking for £25 million.

What has Jones said on the duo?

Jones believes that Gakpo and Sarr are options this summer and that both could be realistically signed by Manchester United.

The transfer insider adds that Gakpo, in particular, has been monitored by Ten Hag in case priority targets fell through.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “They’re definitely options and both attainable so definitely worth pursuing. Gakpo is still on the radar for sure. Ten Hag’s had him there in his thoughts all summer in case other things fell through. So yes, there are still possibilities out there.”

Would the duo make for good signings?

They may not be the most exciting, flashy names in football, but that might not be a bad thing either.

United need to bolster their attack and signing younger, more hungry players with a point to prove could work in their favour.

Between them, Gakpo (45) and Sarr (48) have scored 93 goals throughout their professional careers and would provide the sort of competition that is badly lacking in United’s attack.

Despite having 63% of the ball against Brighton on Sunday, United created just two big changes and missed both of them, as per FOTMOB.

After missing out on their priority targets, such as Antony and Benjamin Sesko, bringing in Gakpo and Sarr would go some way to salvaging the situation.
