AJ Styles has clarified his contract status in WWE and talked about if he ever considered a move to AEW

Styles’ contract was reportedly up in February this year but was said to have signed a new multi-year deal with the company.

However, speaking in an interview with Alex McCarthy for Inside The Ropes, the 45-year-old clarified his contract with the company and stated this is the only place he wanted to be.

I didn’t really sign a new deal it’s just that I had a player option, and I used that option. So I had no plans really and looking back, I want to be with WWE, as much as I want to be with my friends, this is what I know, this is what I know is expected of me at WWE, I understand what they need here in WWE and I want to be a part of it.

Having wrestled all over the world, there had been a line of thought that Styles could end up in AEW if he didn’t renew terms with WWE. But the Phenomenal one says despite very much being part of WWE, he only wishes good things for the other promotions.

I still want IMPACT wrestling to do well, I want AEW to do well. Competition is a good thing, it makes everybody better. There’s nothing wrong with that, we want to see people succeed and tell you the truth, I have friends in every company. I would like to see them do well so they have my support just like anyone else and I want to see them do well. I don’t want to see anybody lose their jobs. So, and, you never know who might show up in WWE.

AJ main evented this week’s Monday Night Raw as he continued his rivalry with The Miz. Beating the A-Lister in a Disqualification Match to end the show. He was then left confused by an intruder who was being dragged away from the crowd, revealed to be a retuning Dexter Lumis.
