Manchester United appear to be closing in on the signing of Adrien Rabiot.

According to the Mirror, United have agreed a £15m deal with Juventus for the services of the French midfielder.

United’s s football director, John Murtough, was in Turin this evening for negotiations with Rabiot’s mother and agent, Veronique.

Many United supporters haven’t exactly been thrilled after learning of the club’s interest in the 27-year-old.

And Lou Macari is one man who shares that opinion.

The 73-year-old, who played for Man United for 11 years from 1973-1984, appeared on the club’s TV channel, MUTV, as a studio guest on Friday afternoon.

Macari was asked to discuss United’s spending this summer. But, instead of speaking positively, he took the opportunity to slate his former club.

He went on a scathing rant and you can view it bleow…

He said, per the Telegraph: “I’d never really heard of him [Rabiot]. 32 games last season, no goals. I can’t see them [Rabiot’s qualities]. Qualities you can see in black and white, or in this case, him not scoring goals.

“Football clubs spend millions and millions of pounds to put scouts out there across Europe to keep an eye on players.

“So if you were going to be a Manchester United scout and asked him [about a player], he would be able to give you a real breakdown of them. No-one has made a move for this fella. Why?”

After being told Monaco were linked with Rabiot, Macari continued: “Monaco is good for dumping your money, dumping your money in the bank and going on holiday.

“But what has the football team ever done? It means nothing. Why aren’t the rest of the clubs in this country, that have done well in the transfer market, why aren’t Man City or Liverpool interested? You always need a good player. I just get a bad feeling about the guy.”

We get the feeling Macari isn’t really a fan of Rabiot…

Should Rabiot sign for the Red Devils, he will become their fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez.
