Cristiano Ronaldo could not prevent Manchester United from being humiliated by Brentford in their Premier League clash on Saturday evening.

After losing 2-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford last week, the Red Devils went into the match looking to get off the mark in the Premier League this season.

Ronaldo made his first start of the season at the Gtech Community Stadium.

But he was unable to prevent United from suffering an embarrassing defeat.

Brentford swept United aside in what was an incredible first-half.

Josh Dasilva broke the deadlock in the 13th minute. He had a go from outside the box and his effort squirmed beneath David de Gea and into the net. It was a poor mistake by United's number one.

Further goals from Mathias Jansen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo gave Brentford a four-goal lead after just 34 minutes.

United improved in the second half but they were unable to find a consolation goal as the game ended 4-0 to Brentford.

Ronaldo was understandably fuming after the full-time whistle.

The 37-year-old stormed off the pitch, with Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News even writing that he ignored Steve McClaren's request to go over to the away fans and acknowledge them for their support.

Fan footage has now emerged of the legendary striker storming down the tunnel after the final whistle.

After an exchange with McClaren, Ronaldo walked straight past Erik ten Hag and down the tunnel.

Ronaldo's future has been a major talking point this summer.

The Portuguese forward was said to be seeking a move away from the club in search of Champions League football.

He has since returned to the United fold but, given their struggles at the start of the season, he may well push for a move away once again.

United are currently rock bottom of the Premier League in what has been a disastrous start to the season.
