PSG are already showing signs of meaning serious business this year with Lionel Messi and Neymar starting the campaign like a house on fire.

The Parisian side, which has dominated the French game for so long, look as though they are set to continue on their merry way this season.

However, their European conquest is where the true litmus test will be provided as they look to finally break their painful Champions League duck.

Sadly, we are still a few weeks away from judging their European credentials so, for now, we will have to make do with their performances in France.

At the moment, all signs point towards a PSG side that has a top chance of challenging for the biggest prize in club football and, with Neymar looking seriously silky at the moment, those chances are only set to improve.

He was up to his regular tricks yet again on Saturday night as the Parisian giants rattled five goals past Montpellier to pick up their second win of the season and go top of the Ligue 1 standings.

Neymar, who picked up a brace on the night, was one of the tormentors in chief as he ran the poor Montpellier defence ragged all night long.

He proved near impossible to get the ball off of as he ran the show with some sultry touches and superb passes.

His goals, on either side of half-time, effectively killed off the game for PSG who ultimately cruised to a comfortable three points.

PSG will be hoping for more of the same as the season wears on and they step out into the continent to have another stab at the Champions League.

With Messi looking a damn site better than he did last season, and Kylian Mbappe also getting on the score sheet last night, all the signs for an exciting season are there.

The fans at the Parc de Princes will be hoping that, when the rubber truly hits the road, their gaggle of superstars can get the business done and finally deliver that much-desired European glory.
