For the first time since the 1992/93 season, Manchester United sit bottom of the Premier League after their 4-0 capitulation at the hands of Brentford on Saturday evening.

Suffering their second defeat of the season, United were put to the sword by the Bees within 35 minutes at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Goals from Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbuemo saw the hosts race into a 4-0 lead, which they comfortably retained until full-time.
United looked all at sea for large periods of the encounter - with the team's performance on the pitch summing up the general state of the affairs at Old Trafford right now.
Following the dismal result, the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) issued a damning statement, brutally slamming the direction of the club under the ownership of the Glazer family and accusing them of being responsible for "our decade of decline".

United last won the Premier League title 10 seasons ago under the stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson in his final season in charge.
Since then, the Red Devils have progressively faded out of title contention - not even qualifying for this season's Champions League.
With a playing squad in dire need of fresh faces, United's summer transfer window has to be classed as a major disappointment so far. New boss Erik ten Hag has repeatedly failed to land his most prized targets - among them Barcelona's Frenkie De Jong and Ajax forward Antony.

Although the club have been cagey in the transfer market, some £11 million was paid out to shareholders back in late June - and executive co-chairmen Joel and Avram Glazer reportedly pocketed the bulk of those funds.
Having failed to truly stamp his mark on the United squad yet, Ten Hag has been forced to rely heavily on the same players who were responsible for the club's worst ever Premier League campaign last season.

"We don’t normally comment on matches but extraordinary times call for a different approach," began the MUST statement.
"What we have witnessed tonight is an embarrassment - no, a humiliation - for Manchester United fans.
"And yet in many ways it was not a surprise. It feels like the culmination of a long-term direction of travel.

"MUST hold the owners of the Club primarily responsible for this new low in our decade of decline. Sir Alex papered over the cracks, but since 2013 the consequences of our owners has been plain to see.
"On behalf of Manchester United fans everywhere, we demand urgent and radical change. And we as fans - all of us - need to stick together. Fans unity, with one voice aimed at the owners and the club, is needed more than ever right now.
"Finally, as the fans in the ground today showed, we will always support the shirts. Support the team, and defend the club. Our flag is deepest red, and we will never die."

As 13-time Premier League champions, United remain the most successful club in the history of the English top-flight. However, without a radical overhaul in many areas, it's difficult to see them adding to that tally of titles.
