What’s the latest on West Ham?

The Irons’ most significant addition to the side this summer was that of Sassuolo and Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca, who signed for the club for £30.5m, but the Hammers still have gaps to fill in the squad this season.

Despite welcoming a number of players to the club, the Irons have lost eight players so far this summer, notably Issa Diop moving to Fulham for a fee of £15m, whilst club legend Mark Noble retired following the conclusion of last season.

Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Nikola Vlasić has moved on a season-long loan to Serie A side Torino, suggesting that the club will be looking to invest in an attacking midfielder this summer.

And Jones believes that the club are targeting four new additions to Moyes’ squad ahead of September’s transfer deadline, but feels that the likelihood of this happening is slim.

What has Jones said about West Ham?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I've heard they still want four players basically before the window’s out.

“I personally, based on what we've seen so far this window, I'm not convinced that they will get that done.”

What’s likely to happen at West Ham?

Following Vlasić’s aforementioned departure, and now rumours that the club could be listening to offers for Algerian attacking midfielder Saïd Benrahma, it looks as though one position the club could be looking to strengthen this summer could be that of a number ten.

Another centre-back could be on Moyes’ agenda as well this summer, after £30m signing Nayef Aguerd suffered an ankle injury that required surgery in the club’s pre-season friendly with Rangers earlier in the summer, sidelining the Moroccan for about ten weeks according to the Scotsman.

The club also remain short in midfield, following Noble’s retirement and Alex Král’s disappointing loan spell from Spartak Moscow meaning that the club didn’t decide to purchase the Czech midfielder outright this summer.

That leaves the club with just Declan Rice, Tomáš Souček, and Flynn Downes as the club’s only senior midfield options, which may be stretching the club’s resources if they are aiming to go deep into the Europa Conference League this season, as well as competing on a domestic front.

Whilst Moyes would be overjoyed to be able to welcome four senior additions to the side this season, with just over two-weeks left of the transfer window, the chances of this happening seem fanciful.
