West Ham United are looking to sign some of Ligue 1's best talent and 'agents are constantly in the owners' ear' after prioritising the arrivals of a defender and striker at the London Stadium, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Hammers sold Issa Diop to Fulham for £15million last week, while Nikola Vlasic also completed a loan switch to Torino, so boss David Moyes is eager to welcome reinforcements.

Who are West Ham looking to sign from Ligue 1?

According to Sky Sports, West Ham have made an improved bid for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thilo Kehrer.

The report suggests the Hammers are awaiting a response from the reigning Ligue 1 champions and have alternative options lined up if they fail to secure the 20-cap Germany international, but Moyes has insisted that talks are 'progressing'.

Another PSG centre-half that West Ham have been linked with is Abdou Diallo, with French media outlet Foot Mercato revealing £17million could be enough to strike a deal.

However, the east Londoners are facing competition from Italian giants Napoli and AC Milan ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.

French journalist Ignazio Genuardi has claimed that Strasbourg midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko has also worked his way onto Moyes' radar after missing out on Amadou Onana to Everton.

What has Paul Brown said about the situation?

Brown understands that David Sullivan, David Gold and Karren Brady are keen to take advantage of the French market as they seek late deals in the transfer window.

The journalist feels West Ham have made the acquisition of a defender and striker a primary objective.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: "They quite like the French market. They have good contacts there and agents are constantly in the owners' ear recommending players.

"I think they will look and try to do something if they can but, really, the priority for West Ham at the moment is that defender and they do still need a striker as well."

Who have West Ham signed so far?

West Ham have already drafted in two players from Ligue 1, with the first being Nayef Aguerd from Rennes after a £30million deal was sanctioned.

Alphonse Areola followed the central defender across the English Channel as his loan move from PSG was made permanent for £7.75million.

The Hammers then parted with £12million to sign Flynn Downes from Championship side Swansea City before £35.5million was enough to prise Gianluca Scamacca away from Italian outfit Sassuolo.

Maxwel Cornet became the east Londoners' latest addition thanks to West Ham paying the £17.5million release clause written into his Burnley contract.
