Wolverhampton Wanderers’ signing of Valencia and Portugal forward Gonçalo Guedes is a “massive uptick” for the club but they still have a lot of work to do this month, according to Dean Jones.
The 25-year-old signed for Bruno Lage’s side for a fee of £27.5m on a five-year deal last week.

What’s the latest on Wolves?
Wolves have now made two additions to the side this summer, with Guedes’ arrival following July’s signing of Burnley and Republic of Ireland centre-back Nathan Collins for £20.5m.
However, the club have lost seven players who were generally in and around the first team squad last season, with the most significant departure being that of long-serving club-captain Conor Coady, who moved to Everton on a season-long loan with the option to buy last week.
The club’s last Premier League victory was in a 2-1 derby win over Aston Villa last season back in April, whilst the club finished last season as the lowest scoring team who didn’t get relegated, suggesting that the club need to go in a different direction this season.
And Jones believes that the news of Guedes’ signing will have given Wolves fans a lift, going into the final few weeks of the transfer window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I mean, they just need to be lifted up by other news, I guess you know, the news that Guedes is coming in is a massive uptick for them.
“They need something in that frontline, they need a new verve basically, somebody that gets people going and is exciting to watch.
“You know, it was disappointing to lose that first game to Leeds, but it's also a bit predictable based on a tumultuous summer really.
“So yeah, there's still a lot of work to be done at Wolves and maybe the fans will be happy by the time that window closes and they get a couple of faces in.”
What next for Wolves?
Despite making his debut as a second-half substitute against Fulham in the club’s second game of the season, Guedes couldn’t inspire the club to a win with the game finishing as a drab 0-0 draw.
Lage’s side are likely to be looking for another midfielder this season, with the club having a long-standing interest in Metz midfielder Boubacar Traoré according to the Express and Star’s Liam Keen, with the same tweet saying that Wolves have not made a bid for Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque, despite reports elsewhere.
Following a difficult start to their Premier League campaign this season, Scott Sellars and Fosun might want to identify some more targets and get them through the doors at Molineux as quickly as possible, to give Lage the best possible chance to succeed with his side this season.
