Wolverhampton Wanderers feel that “this is not the moment” for the club to sell England U21 attacker Morgan Gibbs-White, according to Dean Jones.

The club have rejected offers from both Everton and Nottingham Forest so far this summer, with the club hoping to keep hold of the 22-year-old.

What’s the latest on Gibbs-White?

Bruno Lage has already slapped a £50m price tag on Gibbs-White, after Forest were suggested to have made a bid of £25m + £10m in add-ons for the forward minded player this summer.

According to the Wolves head coach, the Stafford-born player “wants to play” for Wolves, despite there being murmurs that he was understood to be interested in a move to the City Ground this season.

Gibbs-White enjoyed a successful loan period at Championship side Sheffield United last season, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in 37 appearances according to Transfermarkt, in what was somewhat of a breakout season for the Wolves academy product.

And Jones believes that the West Midlands side simply don’t feel like now is the right time to be selling the seven-time England U21 international.

What has Jones said about Gibbs-White?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I mean, it's a lot of money on the table [for Gibbs-White] but pretty much their aim was to price him out of this market.

“So far, I guess it's working because they are turning down a lot of money and saying it's going to take more.

“It’s probably a bit frustrating for Gibbs-White, I'm sure he wouldn't want this uncertainty coming into the new season.

“But yeah, Wolves just feel this is not the moment they want to be losing him.”

What next for Gibbs-White?

Gibbs-White has two seasons remaining on his contract at Molineux, which suggests that if the club receive an offer over £35m, the club may have to sanction a move to a Premier League rival, despite the fact that they feel this is the wrong time to let him go.

However, Football Insider report that Everton could make another move for the Wolves academy product this summer, and the same report suggests that Gibbs-White favours a move to Goodison Park over the City Ground.

In terms of numbers, this isn’t a transfer Wolves can afford to make without having a replacement lined up, so at this late stage of the window, it’s hard to foresee a situation in which Gibbs-White leaves Molineux before the window closes in September.
