Man Utd target Antony goes viral for brilliant moment in Ajax 6-1 Groningen

Ajax have made it two wins from two in the Eredivisie.

The Amsterdam-based club kicked of their 2022/23 campaign with a 3-2 victory away at Fortuna Sittard, before thrashing Groningen 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn bagged a hat-trick for his new club as Ajax ran riot on home soil.

Manchester United target Antony also rippled the back of the net against Groningen and it was an absolute stunner from the mercurial winger that put his side 2-1 ahead on the day.

The Brazil international – who is valued at £31.5 million on Transfermarkt – took aim from the edge of the box with his left peg and the ball flew into the top corner like a tracer bullet.

The 22-year-old is one of the most exciting young players in the world right now and it’s why United manager Erik ten Hag is eager to bring him to Old Trafford – with the player reportedly keen on making the move to English shores.

And during the first half of proceedings, Antony showed what else he would bring to the Red Devils’ struggling attack, on top of his goals.

In a moment of pure footballing magnificence, the Ajax man left three Groningen players trailing in his wake with some freestyler-esque skill moves.

Blink and you’ll miss it, that’s how fast Antony’s feet are!

Had the Brazilian flyer managed to score after bamboozling the Groningen trio, we’d already have a contender for goal of the season.

Antony enjoyed something of a breakthrough campaign in 2021/22, where he became one of Ajax and Ten Hag’s go-to men.

The ex-Sao Paolo man bagged 12 goals and 10 assists from his 31 appearances across all competitions.

He was particularly good in the UEFA Champions League, recording six goal contributions (2G, 4A) in seven games.

Antony has what it takes to the reach the very top, of that there is no doubt and a big-money move cannot be far away for him.

But it may serve him better to spend one more season at Ajax and further hone his skills rather than jump ship this summer – especially to a United team that is currently in disarray.
