Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is concerned about his lack of squad depth, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Gunners are one of two teams with a 100 per cent record in the Premier League after two games, but Bridge reckons that Arteta is still not convinced about some of his players behind his best XI.

Having enjoyed a productive transfer window, which has seen the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus arrive, Arsenal have collected six points from their first two fixtures, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 on the opening day and then Leicester 4-2 eight days later.

The highest profile of their summer recruits, Jesus, played a staring role against the Foxes, scoring twice, and assisting twice to help the Gunners continue the early season momentum in north London.

But during those two games, Arteta hasn't made a substitute before the 75th minute, with the likes of Kieran Tierney, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah being given minimal game-time to make an impact.

Arsenal's bench will improve once Vieira returns from injury, but Bridge reckons that Arteta's lack of changes speaks volumes about how little he trusts anyone outside of the starting XI.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think Arsenal have a very, very good XI and that's been proven by the fact he played the same team against Chelsea in Florida, Sevilla, Crystal Palace and Leicester.

"How many times do you see a manager play the same XI in four matches in a row, two of them in pre-season, when you usually mix them around.

"That says to me that he's very happy with his XI, but not convinced by anyone else. I know he's got one or two good bench players, but when the Europa League resumes, that's when I'll see the real Arsenal, playing Sunday-Thursday-Sunday. I still think maybe they could add some quality, especially in that central midfield."

What else do Arsenal need?

Arsenal's promising summer has already seen their squad improve quite dramatically, but ahead of their return to European football, they still need more.

Defensively, they look in good shape, with cover in both full-back areas, while William Saliba's return means Arteta has four central defenders at his disposal.

But it's further forward where their concerns might lie. Despite Zinchenko being able to operate in a midfield role, Arsenal need another body in the middle, because they're potentially just one injury away from having to start either Albert Sami Lokonga or Mohamed Elneny.

Meanwhile, despite Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli making the wide spots their own, another winger would be welcomed, with Nicolas Pepe essentially out of the fold despite being on the bench, while Smith Rowe naturally creates from the middle.
