Newcastle United could still make at least two more signings before the transfer window closes, says Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

Things have gone a bit quiet at St James' Park following the Tyneside club's captures of Sven Botman, Nick Pope and Matt Targett, but Downie does not think they are necessarily done in the market yet.

It is clear that Eddie Howe would like to add more new additions to his squad; however, valuations of some targets are proving to be a problem.

Newcastle have reportedly made two bids for Leicester City's James Maddison, the latest said to be worth £50m, but those offers have fallen below the Foxes' asking price. According to The Guardian, they want £60m to part ways with the attacking midfielder.

Maddison's England team-mate Dominic Calvert-Lewin also has an extremely high valuation.

Before his injury, The Telegraph reported that Newcastle were interested in signing the 25-year-old but baulked at Everton's £60m asking price.

What has Downie said about Newcastle's transfer plans for the remainder of the transfer window?

While Newcastle are struggling to get their targets in now, Downie can still see them doing more business before the market closes.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Sky Sports reporter said: "I just wouldn't worry about it too much because I think that the decisions that are getting made at the top end of the club are decisions that get made for the future of the football club.

"They're not just being made to get them through the next six months, which was a bit like what January was, where they were just trying to stay safe. This is with a long-term view and the future of the club in mind, so I wouldn't be worried about it too much, but I do still think they will add at least two more before the end of the window."

Who could Newcastle sign?

There has been some talk recently about Newcastle being interested in Chelsea duo Callum Hudson-Odoi and Conor Gallagher.

As per the i, they have the two England internationals on their radar, while Armando Broja is another Chelsea player who they are thought to have looked at.

Hudson-Odoi has reportedly asked the Blues for a loan move, so that may not be a difficult deal for the Magpies to do.

Considering the above, Newcastle's business does not look to be finished, with Chelsea potentially being the club who could offer them their next signing.
