Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher’s future at Stamford Bridge ‘does not look good’ as things stand with the player the subject of transfer speculation this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel has overseen a busy few months in west London and further business could still be done ahead of the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest on Gallagher’s future?

Ahead of Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, Tuchel once again emphasised his admiration for the 22-year-old as a player.

“To be honest, it is a very tough fight for him, “the German said as reported by MailOnline. “It seems we only have two places in central midfield. Given the amount of players we have for central midfield, it isn't ideal I agree.

“But at the moment, he is absolutely fine. I am a huge fan of Conor.”

However, suitors are starting to circle once again. Crystal Palace want to bring Gallagher back to Selhurst Park this summer and are hoping the prospect of playing his way into Gareth Southgate’s England side for the World Cup could be enough to tempt him.

But a report from The Sun has also detailed that Newcastle have made the midfielder their number one target for the remainder of the window.

The publication also states that Gallagher is rated at £40 million by the Blues but it remains to be seen whether the Magpies will be willing to pay such a price.

What has Bridge said on the future of Gallagher?

Bridge has hinted that if the player is not given more than late cameo appearances before the end of the summer window, he may look for an exit.

Bridge told GIVEMESPORT: “I spoke to Gallagher out in Orlando and he said: ‘No more loans for me, I want to show the manager what I can do.’ But if the next three or four games before the deadline he's just playing in the 89th minute, it doesn't look good. Coming on in those minutes, he's on to see the game out and waste a bit of time.”

Will Gallagher leave this summer?

There seems to be an ever-increasing chance of it. With Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all seemingly ahead of him, Gallagher has plenty of work to do.

He has appeared in both Premier League games so far this season but has only played a combined five minutes.

Gallagher’s importance to Palace last season saw him notch eight goals in 39 appearances and provide a further five assists, subsequently earning him four caps for England.

If he is not going to play regularly in west London, why would he hang around?
