Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot has still not said yes to a move to Old Trafford, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils are thought to have agreed a deal with Juventus to sign the midfielder, but it appears that they have not been given the go-ahead by the player yet.

What is the latest news involving Rabiot?

According to the Mail on Sunday, United were set to hold talks with Rabiot's agent and mother Veronique today.

The newspaper states that while the Manchester club have a £15m agreement in place with Juventus to buy the 27-year-old, his wage demands are currently proving to be a stumbling block.

At the Allianz Stadium, Rabiot is thought to be earning £175,000 a week, which is a lot of money. However, the Frenchman did, of course, arrive there on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2019.

Last season, he made 45 appearances in all competitions for Juventus, helping the Old Lady to qualify for the Champions League.

What has Jones said about Rabiot to United?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Rabiot is yet to say yes to a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "At the moment, United don't have a yes from Rabiot that he wants to make this transfer, and that's what they need to get the breakthrough. Juventus are happy to let this player go. In fact, they want this player to go so that they can get in a replacement."

Do United need Rabiot?

It is clear that United need to sign a new midfielder, with Scott McTominay and Fred still not really impressing.

The latter was hooked off at half-time in the 4-0 defeat against Brentford on Saturday, where he earned a WhoScored match rating of just 6.2.

In that humiliating loss, the Brazilian was not really able to impose himself, winning just one tackle in the game.

Rabiot is clearly not going to be the answer to all of United's problems, but he would give Erik ten Hag another body and United some fresh impetus after years of McTominay and Fred.

He has experience playing at a very high level having spent most of his career at Juventus and PSG, while he has also been capped by the France national team on 29 occasions.

Rabiot probably would not be everyone's first-choice midfield target, but given the situation United are currently in, he is definitely not the worst signing they could make this summer.
