The east London club are currently trying to sign the Chelsea left-back, and Jones says he is hoping that a deal can be done.

What is the latest news involving Emerson?

The Guardian recently claimed that West Ham have had a £13m bid for Emerson turned down as David Moyes looks to bring in the 28-year-old.

Emerson leaving Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes still seems inevitable, though, with Chelsea telling the Hammers to up their offer by £2m.

He is likely to see little game time in west London this season following the arrival of Marc Cucurella from Brighton.

The Spaniard started at left wing-back in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham over the weekend, while Ben Chilwell was handed that role in the 1-0 win against Everton prior.

What has Jones said about Emerson to West Ham?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Emerson wants a move to West Ham while the market remains open.

Speaking to GMS on Tuesday, the journalist said: "Emerson is keen for this deal and just hopes all the pieces can fall into place. I’m told he is really motivated to prove himself again in the Premier League and this might prove to be a smart transfer if West Ham can complete it."

Would Emerson be a good signing for West Ham?

West Ham are pretty light in the left-back position right now, with Arthur Masuaku recently joining Besiktas on loan.

New signing Maxwel Cornet can, of course, play there, but Moyes has indicated that he intends to use the Ivorian in attack. Considering that, a move for Emerson makes a lot of sense.

Perhaps a more natural left-back compared to Cornet, Emerson is a defender with a good amount of experience and already knows English football well.

The £75,000-a-week Italy international, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, has made 71 appearances during his time in west London

Speaking about Emerson earlier this year, Thomas Tuchel told reporters: "We know and appreciate Emerson as a player and a person. He had such a huge influence although he didn’t have too many minutes last season, because he’s a top guy and a top professional."

All in all, it is clear that West Ham need a new left-back if Moyes plans to use Cornet in his forward line. And Emerson, for potentially £15m, could be a solid piece of business.
