Kylian Mbappe: PSG star's row with Thomas Tuchel re-emerges after recent behaviour

Kylian Mbappe vs Thomas Tuchel at PSG

On Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain beat Montpellier 5-2 to make it two wins and 10 goals scored in their two Ligue 1 games so far this season.

They’ve also claimed the Trophee des Champions after beating Nantes 4-0.

All is well early in the 2022/23 campaign for the French club, then?

Errrr, not quite.

Firstly, we explained how Kylian Mbappe was slammed for throwing a strop with PSG on the counter attack after not being passed the ball by Vitinha.

Mbappe was probably still annoyed after he had seen a penalty saved earlier in the half.

Mbappe wanted to make amends for his penalty miss shortly afterwards when PSG were awarded a second spot-kick.

The Frenchman appeared to barge past Lionel Messi before having a conversation with Neymar as he placed the ball down on the spot.

Neymar scored the resulting penalty but reports from Get French Football News suggests the relationship between the two players is reaching boiling point.

In fact, according to AS, Sergio Ramos had to diffuse the tension between Neymar and Mbappe after the match.

Is the groundbreaking new contract Mbappe signed that reportedly gave him more power at the Parc des Princes going to his head?

Not exactly, no.

That’s because is clip is going viral from three years ago that shows Mbappe arguing with then PSG manager, Thomas Tuchel after being substituted against… Montpellier.

In January 2020, Mbappe was involved in an altercation with his current boss after being taken off. It led to what appeared to be a heated exchange before he slumped himself onto the bench and sulked.

The clip has re-emerged considering Mbappe’s recent behaviour and the caption suggests these recent incidents are simply ‘three years in making.’

After the clash, Tuchel admitted that handled dressing room egos is tough.

“Handling dressing room egos is demanding,” Tuchel, who was sacked later that year, said. “Not difficult but demanding. It is not good, nor was it going too far. We are a team and that must be respected.

“I am coach. Somebody has to decide who comes off and goes on. These are not good images as they negatively affect the state of mind. We are playing football – not tennis. Kylian is intelligent and has a good mentality, so we do not need this sort of situation.

“It is not good as it opens discussion and distracting subjects that affect our spirit. Together, with Kylian, we have shown a very professional and concentrated spirit. This topic always gives the impression that it is not like that, which is a shame. I am not angry, just sad as it was unnecessary.”
