Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp ignored by Manchester City star in Community Shield tunnel cam footage

Liverpool’s start to the 2022/23 Premier League campaign has been rather underwhelming.

Consecutive draws with Crystal Palace and Fulham has already seen them fall four points behind Manchester City in the title race.

After such fine margins separating the two teams in the past, Liverpool simply can’t afford these kinds of slip ups, even with the season still in its infancy.

With Darwin Nunez getting himself sent off for a moment of madness in the Palace game and an already lengthy injury list, Jurgen Klopp is going to have to right the ship before the Reds drop out of the running completely.

It had all looked so positive for the Reds in pre-season when they dominated City in the Community Shield.

Liverpool ran riot, producing one of their best ever performances against Pep Guardiola’s side to clinch a 3-1 victory.

Despite the Community Shield being panned as a ‘glorified friendly’, the victory did provide a huge source of encouragement for the Reds.

Now, Klopp, who has a raft of issues on his hands that need solving, is probably wishing he could go back to that day when all seemed well in his world.

In truth, his biggest problem on that day came before the clash when City defender Ruben Dias completely ignored him in the tunnel ahead the teams making their way onto the pitch.

In footage that recently emerged on Twitter, Dias is seen shaking the hands of various people near and around Klopp before returning to his spot at the front of the City line-up.

Klopp, clearly perturbed by the action, gives Dias the foulest of death stares before seemingly accepting that the handshake would never arrive.

Check it out in the clip below:

Did Dias know what he was doing, or was it simply a mistake? Either way, the whole sequence of events makes for pretty funny viewing.

Liverpool’s next assignment comes in the form of a clash against age-old rivals Manchester United with both clubs hoping to kick-start their spluttering seasons.

Klopp will have to make do without his marquee signing Nunez, who looks set to be slapped with a hefty ban for his red card on Monday night.

With Klopp’s squad already stretched thin, it is going to be fascinating to see how he adapts as he bids to keep pace with the likes of City and Arsenal at the top.
