WWE 2K23 has been officially confirmed and it will likely be released next year, but who could be the cover star of the latest iteration of the franchise? The company has a number of huge names to choose from, with Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch all being featured in prior years.

The game’s existence was revealed in a recent earnings call from Take-Two, the publisher of the 2K series.

It will follow hot on the heels of WWE 2K22, which was a real success, both in terms of sales and critical reception from fans and reviewers alike.

2K22 was a marked step up from WWE 2K20, and we’re hoping that the new game will continue that trajectory.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at five superstars who could grace the cover of the new game, after 2K22 was headlined by Rey Mysterio or the NWO with Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, depending on which edition you purchased.

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes is on his way back to WWE

This is the obvious one.

He’s made the move from AEW and was even involved in the company’s first five-star match since CM Punk wrestled John Cena, against Seth Rollins.

It would be a statement to put him on the cover, especially after WWE managed to convince him to return from their biggest rival.

He’s likely to be one of the highest-rated wrestlers in the game, so it wouldn’t surprise us at all to see Cody’s face on the cover.

Roman Reigns

The Tribal Chief.

2K could choose to acknowledge Roman by getting him on the front cover, potentially flanked by his Bloodline partners the Usos, and even Paul Heyman.

Roman is the top guy in WWE, so making him the cover star would be a sensible choice.

He was on the cover of 2K20 alongside Becky Lynch, but it’s best not to remember that title!

Bianca Belair

The EST of WWE.

Bianca has gone from strength to strength since her debut in NXT and has even main evented WrestleMania since her main roster call up.

Not only is she a reliable, bankable champion, she’s also one of the best workers in the business, regardless of gender.

Having Bianca on the cover would also be a step forward for representation; a lone woman has never been on the front cover of a WWE game, nor has a person of colour.

Randy Orton

It feels weird to say that Randy has never been on the front cover of a WWE game but that is absolutely the case.

It feels like an ideal time to build a showcase mode around the Legend Killer, and he’s one of the most recognisable stars in WWE.

Making him the cover star makes a lot of sense.

Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks could return in WWE under Triple H

Sasha Banks could thrive in WWE under Triple H

We’re projecting here because, at the time of writing, Sasha isn’t actually appearing on television for WWE.

She walked out alongside Naomi some time ago and hasn’t been seen since.

However, plenty of reports claim that the pair are coming back, especially now Triple H is the man in charge.

She’s a beloved female superstar in WWE and is a crossover star too.

It would be a huge statement to get Sasha to come back, and then make her the cover star of WWE 2K23.
