Chelsea now deciding on 'green light' for £58m star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel applauding

Chelsea are yet to make a decision on Christian Pulisic‘s future, says transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

While the attacker has been linked to Newcastle United and Manchester United, Romano has told GIVEMESPORT that he is a player who Thomas Tuchel trusts and that the west London club have not given him the green light to leave yet.

What is the latest news involving Pulisic.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are interested in signing Pulisic this summer. Elsewhere, The Athletic has claimed that Manchester United have him on their radar, too.

As well as the 23-year-old, The Telegraph has stated that the Magpies have also asked to be kept informed about the availability of Conor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Armando Broja.

Pulisic did not start in either of Chelsea’s first two Premier League fixtures of the new season against Everton and Tottenham.

In general, he has been in and out of Tuchel’s first XI, starting just 13 games in the English top flight last term. The £58m American has, of course, had his injury problems, though.

What has Romano said about Pulisic’s Chelsea future?

While Hudson-Odoi has been told he will be allowed to leave Chelsea during this transfer window, Romano says a decision has not yet been made when it comes to Pulisic’s future.

Speaking to GMS, the Italian journalist said: “They need to decide what they want to do before giving the green light to Pulisic. So, at the moment, for Hudson-Odoi, it’s a yes, but Pulisic is a player that Thomas Tuchel trusts.”

Will Pulisic move to Newcastle this summer?

It would be a surprise if Pulisic ended up at St James’ Park before the window closes. Newcastle are obviously on the up, but it remains to be seen if they would be willing to match his current £150,000-a-week contract at Chelsea, while the absence of Champions League football could also be a problem.

From Chelsea’s point of view, they do not seem desperate to get rid of him either. Tuchel appears to be a fan of the player and will probably need him if the likes of Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech depart Stamford Bridge this summer.

The former Morocco international is another Blues star who could be heading for the exit door, with Erik ten Hag reportedly keen to reunite with him at Manchester United.

The Premier League outfit have already watched Timo Werner return to RB Leipzig, too, so it is hard to imagine Tuchel letting Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi and Ziyech all go before September’s deadline.
