Newcastle United may buy one more player and loan another before the summer transfer window shuts, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

Eddie Howe has overseen a surprisingly quiet few months at St James’ Park, following the takeover of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, but more names could still arrive before the September 1 deadline.

What is the latest transfer news from Newcastle?

It is clear that the Magpies want to add more attacking flair to their side this summer, having already failed in two attempts to sign James Maddison from Leicester City.

More recently Newcastle are eyeing moves for Chelsea trio Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Conor Gallagher, according to the Telegraph.

The publication also states that the club have a long-standing interest in striker Armando Broja, hinting that support for Callum Wilson is also a priority.

Benfica marksman Goncalo Ramos and Watford’s Joao Pedro have also been linked, although a £20 million bid has already been rejected for the latter.

What has Jacobs said about Newcastle’s plans?

The CBS reporter insists that the club were always likely to have quite a quiet summer but that two new players could still arrive.

He understands that those two deals could take the form of a permanent deal and a loan deal if needed.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “I was always told at the beginning of the window that Newcastle would be quite quiet. But, if they were going to add two more, they would be looking for a striker to support Callum Wilson and an attack-minded player. Newcastle’s interest in Broja is no secret and I was also told that they might even buy one and loan one.”

Where should Newcastle look to strengthen?

As Jacobs alluded to, a new striker and an attack-minded player for either wing should be their two biggest priorities moving forward.

While Wilson is impressively clinical in front of goal, scoring 21 times in 48 Newcastle appearances, he is not getting adequate chances provided for him by those either side of him.

Newcastle did not create any big chances against Brighton on Saturday, as they held the Seagulls to a 0-0 draw, and only mustered four shots in the entire game.

With Thomas Tuchel open to letting a number of his Chelsea attackers leave this summer, west London could prove a rich hunting ground for Newcastle.

Both Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic possess the directness needed to add some real attacking threat to Howe’s side. Broja, too, would provide some serious competition to Wilson and also allow the Englishman to rest. when required.
