West Ham manager David Moyes wants to sign a creative midfielder following the arrival of defender Thilo Kehrer, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

While the Hammers have been focusing on defence, Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that they are also keen on bringing in a couple of players for the engine room.

What is the latest transfer news involving West Ham?

West Ham recently confirmed the signing of Kehrer from Paris Saint-Germain, which will come as a huge boost to Moyes.

The Scotsman has had to play full-back Ben Johnson in central defence due to Nayef Aguerd picking up a bad injury and Issa Diop leaving the club. He now, however, has another centre-half option thanks to Kehrer's arrival.

If everything went to plan, then the German would have been joined by Emerson Palmieri at the London Stadium.

According to BBC Sport, the east London club were in talks with their rivals Chelsea as they looked to bring in the Italy international. However, it has now emerged that they have walked away from a deal due to personal terms.

What has Jones said about Moyes and West Ham?

Jones says midfield is also an area of West Ham's squad that Moyes is desperate to strengthen.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "I think midfield's probably a key one at the moment. I mean, it might even be two midfielders. A creative one seems to be the most important to him, but also one that can retain the ball is something that I know they'd like if they can find a good option before the deadline."

Who should West Ham sign?

If Moyes wants to sign two midfielders, one who can create and one who can dictate, then he can probably kill two birds with one stone by recruiting Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian was linked with a move to West Ham earlier in the window and looks ideal when considering the above.

As per WhoScored, Tielemans made 1.2 key passes per league game last season, which was the third-highest average in Leicester's squad. Overall, he recorded 53.4 passes per game, leaving him in the top five players for that category at the King Power Stadium.

The Belgium international is into the final 12 months of his contract, so he should be affordable, with some reports suggesting that the Foxes want £32m for him.

Tielemans may need some convincing given that West Ham are not in the Champions League, but if Moyes is looking for a playmaker and conductor for the middle of the park, the Leicester star has to be on his list.
