Leeds target Charlie Taylor would be "open" to a return to Elland Road, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Yorkshire giants are in desperate need of reinforcements at left-back and are interested in signing the Burnley star.

What's the latest news involving Taylor?

Taylor started his playing career at Leeds after coming through the ranks, making 104 first-team appearances before attracting the attention of Burnley, who signed him back in 2017.

He quickly established himself as a regular at Turf Moor and has been their first choice left-back ever since, turning out more than 150 times.

But following their relegation back to the Championship, there's been speculation surrounding his future, with Leeds interested in bringing him back to his boyhood club.

Taylor has entered the final two years of his £47,000 per-week contract, meaning Leeds should be able to tie up a deal for relatively cheap.

Despite his Elland Road departure coming in sour circumstances five years ago, O'Rourke reckons Taylor would snap up the chance to play Premier League football for the club he supports.

What did O'Rourke say about Taylor?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm sure Charlie Taylor would be open to moving to Leeds and open to moving back to the Premier League.

"I think left-back is an area they're looking to strengthen in, and I think Taylor would be a good signing."

How did Taylor perform for Burnley last season?

Despite being unable to save the club from relegation, Taylor produced another steady campaign in claret and blue.

He was given a 6.82 rating by WhoScored, which might have been the sixth-best in the Burnley squad but was better than any of Leeds' full-backs; Luke Ayling (6.49), Junior Firpo (6.49), Stuart Dallas (6.78), while only Liam Cooper and Raphinha managed to outperform him in the entire squad.

Taylor's defensive numbers were impressive, with the Whites academy graduate averaging 2.3 clearances, 1.9 interceptions and 1.5 tackles every 90 minutes in the Premier League.

The left-back also proved himself as productive going forward, registering three assists in 31 top-flight appearances, which was the joint-most in the Burnley ranks alongside four other players.

Overall, Taylor is a reliable source at both ends of the pitch and would definitely help Leeds out right now, with Marsch currently being forced to play Pascal Struijk there, with Firpo and Dallas both out injured.
