Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather broke countless records during their historic clash back in 2017.

The fight was billed as the ‘The Biggest Fight in Combat Sports History’, with one of boxing’s greats going toe-to-toe with the UFC’s biggest star.

From the very first announcement of the fight, it was hard to avert your eyes. McGregor’s brilliantly witty quotes were entertaining the masses, while Mayweather wasn’t shy when it came to trading insults.

It was Hollywood entertainment whenever the two would meet, but there was one occasion where both fighters seemed to let their rivalry slip.

With both McGregor and Mayweather up on stage, the American boxer reached towards an Irish flag in the crowd and asked if he could keep it as a souvenir. He then handed the flag to McGregor, who threw it right back in his face to the pleasure of the crowd.

The audience erupted into raptures and both McGregor and Mayweather couldn't help but share a laugh and a smile.

UFC president Dana White could even be seen chuckling and smiling in the background.

It was a brief moment in the build-up where both fighters seemed to be enjoying each other’s company, and fans were quick to point it out on social media.

“They broke character for sure... they were both in cahoots... the level of marketing was next level,” said one fan.

“Nah Conor, Floyd and Dana all had the same smile at the same time. When the crowd went crazy, they knew.”

“Floyd smiling to Conor like we gonna make so much money lol”

Both fighters have been laughing at their bank accounts ever since, with Mayweather reportedly earning over $200 million for the event, while McGregor stated he earned $100 million.

But on the night itself, it was Mayweather who earned the bragging rights. The Notorious started brightly at the T-Mobile Arena, but started to fatigue as the fight went on.

Mayweather’s vast experience started to shine through, and he began to pick apart McGregor, landing a number of stunning shots in the 10th round before the referee was forced to step in and end the bout.

It turned out to be Mayweather’s last professional fight, with the 45-year-old retiring with a 50-0 record.
