Manchester United have been boosted in their pursuit of Christian Pulisic as the Chelsea star is 'interested' in making the switch to Old Trafford, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag could bolster his squad ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline having seen his side suffer consecutive defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.

What's the latest news involving Pulisic?

According to The Athletic, Manchester United are considering taking Pulisic on loan from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The report suggests the 51-cap United States international is frustrated after failing to nail down a regular starting spot under Blues boss Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar this winter.

Pulisic has enjoyed just 31 minutes of action since the new campaign got underway, having made substitute appearances against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea are understood to be willing to listen to loan offers and, along with Manchester United, Newcastle United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have made approaches.

The winger's Stamford Bridge contract, which is worth £150,000-per-week, is due to expire in the summer of 2024.

What has Dean Jones said about Pulisic?

Jones believes ten Hag has taken a step in the right direction after turning his attentions towards landing Pulisic on a temporary basis.

The transfer insider understands that the American, who cost Chelsea £58million when he joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, is open to the possibility of swapping Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "When you see some of the names that have been linked with Manchester United in the past couple of weeks, Pulisic - in terms of quality, global appeal and character - is better than most of them.

"If he's open to this and Chelsea are willing to let him go, I think it's one you have to explore. He is interested in it, so that's a good start."

Would Pulisic be a good signing for Manchester United?

Manchester United have only found the back of the net once this season - and that was technically an own goal by Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister - so it is clear that they need more creativity and firepower in the final third of the pitch.

That is something Pulisic is more than capable of providing, having chalked up 44 goals and 45 assists over the course of his senior club career.

The Red Devils' struggles mean ten Hag would be better off targeting players who can make an instant impact and the 23-year-old certainly ticks that box as he has made 76 appearances in the Premier League, meaning he would not need time to adjust to the rigours of the competition.

Pulisic has won some of football's biggest prizes, including the Champions League, so he could bring a much-needed feelgood factor to Manchester United.
