The stage is set for potentially the biggest title match in the history of AEW as an Undisputed AEW World Champion will finally be crowned.

AEW confirmed on Dynamite and later via Twitter that AEW World Champion CM Punk will collide with Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley to determine a definitive champion.

CM Punk has been out of action on AEW since the Dynamite after Double Or Nothing, where he broke his foot in a trios match alongside FTR.

Since Punk's injury, AEW President Tony Khan made the executive decision not to strip Punk of the championship but to crown an Interim champion in his absence.

Moxley won the championship after defeating New Japan Pro Wrestling's Hiroshi Tanahashi at the AEW X NJPW premium event Forbidden Door.

Since his victory, Moxley has been a fighting champion, defending the title regularly almost every week successfully.

However, the return of CM Punk after 2 months last week on Dynamite meant that it was only a matter of time before Punk and Mox would have to collide to determine an undisputed champion.

Last night saw CM Punk take to the ring to address what is next, and his intentions were crystal clear, calling out Jon Moxley and disrespecting him as a performer by referring to him as third best in the Blackpool Combat Club as well as any other group he was in, most notably of these being in the WWE as part of The Shield with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.

Moxley fired back with shots at Punk, referencing that he only came back to wrestling because he needed the paycheck.

The segment ended with the two men brawling and security having to split them up on multiple occasions.

As the show progressed, Tony Nese was scheduled for singles action, but Moxley would wipe out the Premier Athlete and call out Punk again, instigating another brawl that had to be separated by security.

Punk and Moxley have a long history in AEW, and they have even been on the same side in an AEW ring, but this will be the first time the two stand across from each other one-on-one in an All Elite Wrestling ring.

You can watch Punk vs Moxley on Dynamite internationally on FITE TV.
