UFC middleweight Paulo Costa is in incredible shape as he prepares to battle ‘bad luck’ Luke Rockhold at UFC 278.

The often unpredictable Paulo Costa knows how to get fans and fighters alike wound up, whether it be on social media or simply through his actions in the cage. ‘The Eraser’ has gone through his fair share of ups and downs over the last few years but now, at this point in his career, he appears to be as focused as he’s ever been heading into his comeback fight on Saturday night.

The contest will take place in Salt Lake City with Costa going up against former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

The veteran hasn’t won a fight in the UFC in five years and yet, there’s still a feeling in the air that he could do some damage if he’s able to get this fight to the ground.

In contrast to that, Costa will likely be looking for that one big shot to really test the chin of the 37-year-old and see whether or not he can add another highlight to his reel.

In a recent episode of UFC Embedded, Costa showed just how motivated he is for this fight by giving the world a quick look at his amazing physique.

He even commented on his appearance by suggesting Rockhold took the fight under the impression that Costa was out of shape.

“I am feeling faster, much faster than before. It’s normal because I am lighter. I feel like a monster!”

“Unfortunately, Luke Rockhold has really bad luck. He saw me chubby and thought, ‘I will fight this Chubby Paulo, he is not focused anymore’. He’s got me in my best physical shape ever.”

Costa’s big turning point

Paulo Costa knows that this fight could so easily serve as a major turning point in his UFC career.

He’s lost his last two outings against Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori, and he didn’t exactly come out of either looking particularly good courtesy of how they both went down.

He seems to be dialled in and unbelievably focused as so rarely tends to be the case in his career, but in order to know for sure, we have to wait and see what happens on Saturday.
