Jon Jones drops massive hint he could make sensational UFC return before the end of the year

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has dropped a massive hint regarding his return to the cage.

The conversation about who the ‘greatest of all-time’ is in mixed martial arts is a complicated one. As a result of the sport still being so fresh, the figureheads in the debate tend to be fighters who are still actively competing or have only recently retired.

Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Amanda Nunes, Fedor Emelianenko and more all tend to be mentioned, but there’s one name that continues to cause controversy even to this day: Jon Jones.

The 35-year-old is best known for being the greatest light heavyweight fighter ever and in addition to that, he’s also one of the most naturally talented athletes we’ve ever seen at this level.

‘Bones’ can do things that would’ve been unthinkable just a few years prior to when he burst onto the scene and in the present day, many still believe he has the chance to enhance his legacy even further.

One of the ways he plans on doing that is by moving up to heavyweight to try and claim a second world title, something which has only been done by a handful of individuals.

Fans have been speculating when he’s going to return with the anticipated opponent being none other than former UFC champion Stipe Miocic.

Now, in the following string of tweets, Jones has confirmed that he hopes to return on the UFC 282 card which is set to take place on December 10.

After sending a tweet simply labelled “UFC 282” with his fingers crossed, Jon went on to say the following.

“My goal, my dream is to have my first heavyweight title fight look like my first light heavyweight title fight. Pure domination”

Banishing the demons

As well as wanting to make people forget about his numerous indiscretions outside of the Octagon, Jones will want to prove that he’s still talented enough to win a title at the elite level.

His last outing came against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247, in a bout that many fans felt he lost.

If he can blow the doors off of Miocic, though, it could set us up for a mammoth Ngannou vs Jones unification fight in 2023.
